So today was the first meeting of the Southern News Network and I was in attendance there. I showed up at 11:00, when it was scheduled, after wandering around trying to find it for awhile. Haha. When I got there, there were a lot of upperclassmen, and only one other Freshman there with me. We just talked about basic info regarding the newscast. We established that meetings would now be on Wednesdays @ 10:40 AM in the newsroom, and that was when stories would be assigned. Then stories would be due by noon the following Tuesday. We were told that the stories would just be short blurbs to add into the show, nothing too major to start off with, and that Anna would help us and kind of show us how to write those at the next meeting. Anna told us a little bit about how the Broadcasting world is from her experience and talked about her fishing show that she is working on now, and then gave us an overview of what we could potentially do in the future on Southern News. She talked about potentially anchoring as seniors, running the camera eventually, maybe learning the soundboard, etc. About halfway through the meeting, Dr. Bradford popped in to oversee the meeting.
I'm not positive what time I left, but Anna said that we would probably receive around a half hour of credit for this, and 11:30 sounds about right for the time that we were done. I can't wait for the next meeting!
