Hours For Feb. 4 - Feb. 15 (13. 75 hours)

February 4, 2013
Today was our weekly Interlachen meeting. As usual we have them every Monday, and we are continuing to discuss the necessities to meet deadline. At this meeting we covered shoots for the week, gave strict deadlines to finish our athlete stories, and signed up for portrait shifts. This was one hour.

During my downtime between classes I made my way into the Interlachen office to edit photos for Shannah. She needed some group photos and faculty photos edited for the book itself, as well as photos that we are not using edited so that she can send those to campus organizations. I got about half of her list done today and left the rest for someone else to pick up on or for myself to continue later. This was my first time using Photoshop instead of Lightroom to edit photos, so it threw me for a loop at first. But it was pretty easy to catch onto. I edited these for about one hour.

I had some more downtime today to work on photo editing. I didn't get too much done today because I only had a half hour to work, but I managed to knock out some more of Shannah's list. It's close to being finished now. I edited these for a total of 30 minutes.

Today was a very busy day for me. I got out of class and went straight over to the collegiate room to help out with portraits. I got there around 2:30 and stayed until 6:00 when we broke down. I took some shots as well as tried to help pull people in to get their photo taken. That's harder than you'd think! I helped Shannah break down the setup at 6:00 and load it up in my car for the next day. This was 3.5 hours.

Following portraits I went to the final dress rehearsal for Little Women to take photos for the yearbook. I arrived at 7:00 and took photos throughout the entire show, then took posed shots following the show. These were poses of different parts of the scenes, which were selected by Paul. I stayed for the entire time and left with about a memory card and a half full of photos. This lasted until 12:15 a.m. This was 5.25 hours.

I'm not sure if these will qualify for Practicum hours because they cut into my class time, however I set up portraits today. I arrived on campus at 11:00 to set up and everything was working against me. It started raining, the circle drive was blocked off, the parking lot was full, and I was setting up by myself. It took some time to lug everything up to the room by myself, and then as I set up I ran into some obstacles as well. Eventually Brianna Davis showed up and helped me pull it all together, thankfully. After we finished I went to class around 1:00 to catch what I could. If these are allowed to count, then this would be 2 hours.

Following Practicum, I walked over to portraits for a bit before Broadcast Writing and found Shannah setting up by herself, so I helped her out. I got there around 11:30 and left at 12:00 to go to Broadcast Writing. Between her past experience and mine from the previous day, we were able to set up in no time! This was 30 minutes.

TOTAL HOURS EARNED: 13.75 hours
